Southdown Ambassador Sale Monday April 17, 2017

This feminine fall ewe lamb shares much of the same pedigree as the past 5 ASBA Fall Ewe futurity winners, including last year’s winner sold through the Ambassador sale.  She is a maternal half-sib to MB Genetics 12F-1972 VISION, sire of the 2016 NAILE Jr. Show Grand Champion Ewe, Reserve Jr. Champion Ewe and the 2^nd Fall ewe of both open and junior shows, and also sire of the Res. Supreme ewe at Nebraska State Fair.  Her sire, VALEDICTORIAN, was senior champion of the 2013 NAILE, and he ties the top and bottom of the pedigree together through the great AMBUSH x THE EDGE ewe that also produced IMAGE and IMPRESSION. The extended pedigree would go back to the matriarch EDWINA 5 times. This is more than a futurity ewe entry, she has the genetics to be a foundation and stud ewe.

2016 NAILE results



Silver Dollar BR 6021 shown by Logan Beckmier was Jr. Champion and Grand Champion of the Junior Show. Bred and sold by Tad Thompson family of Indiana, she was sired by MB Genetics 12F-1972 VISION, co-owned by MB Genetics, Tad Thompson, and Shroyer Sisters of Ohio.

Congratulations to Kelsi, (Dathan & Kailen) Smerchek on Grand Champion Ram of the junior show, KDK "Aztec" 1539, by KDK Sylvester (MB Genetics 8F-JC2 Blitz x The Edge) and out of an MB Predestined 6-473 daughter). Aztec was also All-American Reserve Grand Champion Southdown ram, Reserve Supreme Ram at the WI State Fair Jr. show and Reserve Grand at the Midwest Jr. Preview Show.

Purchased in the ASBA Ambassador on-line sale, Kyliegha Daniels won the Fall Futurity with MB Genetics 15F-1111 by ENCORE. AND Kyliegha won the Senior Ewe Lamb (fall) class of the junior show out of 24 entries.
Dylan Klug was 4th in the Fall Ewe Futurity with MB Genetics 15F-X92 also by ENCORE but purchased at the spring Wisconsin sale.

Kyliegha Daniels' 6th place Ewe Lamb Futurity finish was on MB Genetics 16-XEM sired by MB Genetics 14-57V(triplet to COVER GIRL). She was sold in the April Wisconsin Sale.

Congratulations to Troy Kenneth Longenecker of Pennsylvania on his Reserve Jr. Champion Ram in the Open Show with his March lamb, Longenecker 1612. Dam is MB Genetics 14-157 COVER GIRL, purchased by Troy at the 2014 Stars of Louisville Sale.

2nd in the ASBA Yearling Futurity was Carson Lobdell on Bowman 15233,sired by MB Genetics 1-680 IMPRESSION, making her a half-sib to Carson's 1st place Futurity Ewe lamb. IMPRESSION is co-owned by MB Genetics and Lanny Bowman. This ewe was also Champion of the WI State Fair open show.

Summer Show highlights for 2016

Prairieland Farms, Alexandria, SD, had Grand Ewe at the 2016 Big Ohio Sale on Prairieland 5-D2, a yearling daughter of the MB Genetics Thickburger ram.

Kelsi Smerchek had Reserve Champion Southdown ewe at the Midwest Jr. Preview show in Missouri with KDK 1516, a daughter of MB Genetics XF-EM.

KDK "Aztec" 1539, by KDK Sylvester (MB Genetics 8F-JC2 Blitz x The Edge) and out of an MB Predestined 6-473 daughter) - All-American Reserve Grand Champion Southdown ram. Fall ram class winner. He was also Reserve Supreme Ram at the WI State Fair Jr. show and Reserve Grand at the Midwest Jr. Preview Show.

Kyliegha Daniels won Reserve Champion Ewe at the All-American, Supreme at Lodi Ag Fair, and won the fall class at the open WI Sheep & Wool Festival and Regional Jr. Southdown shows. Her ewe, MB Genetics 15F-1111 was purchased through the ASBA Ambassador online sale and is sired by Encore and out of an Image daughter

Carson Lobdell exhibited the champion Southdown ewe at the 2016 Wisconsin State Fair open show and was 3rd overall in the Supreme drive with Bowman 15233. She is a daughter of MB Genetics 1-680 Impression(co-owned with Lanny Bowman) and was 3rd in the 2015 ASBA ewe lamb futurity for Carson.

Kailen Smerchek had the Champion Southdown Ewe and Supreme Champion Bred & Owned Ewe at the 2016 WI State Fair with KDK 1516 (MB Genetics XF-EM daughter).

Paige Roach won showmanship in her age division at both Wisconsin Spring Preview and Wisconsin State Fair with a fall ewe, MB Genetics 15F-352 (Impression x Encore). She won the WI Spring Preview fall class with her.

Beckmier Brothers had Reserve Ewe at the 2016 Illinois State Fair with Silver Dollar BR 6021, a Vision (MB Genetics 12F-1972) daughter, bred by Tad Thompson family.

Champion Southdown Ewe and Reserve Supreme Ewe 2016 Nebraska State Fair - MB Genetics 15F-X80 fall lamb. Sired by MB Genetics 12F-1972 Vision, an Encore son co-owned by Tad Thompson, IN; John Shroyer, OH; and MB Genetics. She is a maternal sister to Valedictorian and dam is a maternal sister to Image and Impression.

1st Winter Ewe Lamb 2016 Nebraska State Fair - Langer 16-48J. Bred and owned by Jenna Langer, sired by a Valedictorian son(triplet to Cover Girl) and out of an Impression daughter.



Prairieland Farms, Alexandria, SD, had the 1st pair of yearlings at Nebraska State Fair with twins by MB Genetics "Thickburger" and out of a Langer ewe.



Carson Lobdell had Reserve Champ Ewe at the Midwest Regional Jr. Southdown Show with the same MB Genetics 1-680 Impression daughter pictured above at Wisconsin State Fair.

Lee Olson ended the summer show season by winning, the Supreme Championship at the 2016 Clay County Fair in Spencer, IA with a fall ewe lamb, MB Genetics 15F-1580. She had been 2nd in the fall class to the Grand Champions at both Nebraska and Minnesota state fairs. She is by Vision and out of a Keystone x Ambush ewe.

Danielle Robinson had Grand Champion overall breeding ewe with a fall ewe lamb at the Fond du Lac county fair. MB Genetics 15F-3980 is Encore x Image.

Congratulations to Troy Longenecker on breeding and showing the Champion Southdown ram at the 2016 Maryland State Fair. A couple weeks later he was also Grand Champion at the Keystone International.  Longenecker 1612 is by a KDK ram(Summer Shandy) that is out of MB Genetics XF-EM. 1612's dam is MB Genetics 14-157 Cover Girl, winner of the best Southdown ewe breed character award at the 2014 NAILE. Troy purchased Cover Girl at the 2014 Stars of Louisville Sale.

Grand Champion ewe at the 2016 Maryland State Fair was KDK 1605, co-owned by Troy Longenecker and MB Genetics. She is a January ewe lamb out of MB Genetics 11F-9EM that was Reserve Sr. Champion for Dathan Smerchek at the 2012 All-American. The KDK ram that sired this lamb is Willwerth 9083 x MB Genetics XF-EM (Reserve Supreme Ewe for Kelsi Smerchek at 2011 WI State Fair and Champion at 2012 Regional Jr. Southdown show.

KDK 1605(also pictured above at Maryland State Fair) went on to also be Grand Champion Ewe at the 2016 Keystone International.
