Thank you to our ewe lamb buyers at the 2010 Stars of Louisville Sale: Lot 5-Northern Star (MN), Lot 6-Carol Howe (NH), & Lot 4-Brett Ebersole (IL). Also thank you from Athena Associates to the Bechman Family (IN) on their purchase of Lot 3. Lot 5 was 2nd in the NAILE open show 2 days after the Stars Sale.

60 degree day gave us a great start on washing & shearing for the trip to Louisville. Lot 3 had her extreme make-over today. Minus the wool you can now see her dam's genetics coming through in her length and feminine front and head.

The first progeny of NSLS 9108 were born in late October at MB Genetics. Uniformly very good heads and color, ideal birth weights and vigor, these lambs show so far that 9108 sires with predictability.

All three of our Stars of Louisville ewe lambs are sired by IMAGE.
IMAGE sired the first winner of the Florence Strouse Cup for best breed character ewe, awarded at the National Southdown Show, NAILE 2009.
Junior Champion Ewe at 2010 All-American Jr. Show was also sired by IMAGE.

This February ewe lamb was Reserve Grand Champion at the 2010 WI Sheep & Wool Festival Southdown open show, her only show. (Champion had been our yearling pictured in September 13th blog below.) Great ewe family for both production and in the show ring.

Jr. Show Supreme - WI Sheep & Wool Festival

Jenna Langer, DeForest, WI, showed the Supreme Champion Meat Breed Ewe of the junior show on Sept. 12. at the WI Sheep & Wool Festival. Her yearling ewe, MB Genetics 8F-4V4, was also the Res. Champion at the WI State Fair junior show in August. Sired by MB Genetics 4F-C, she is a half-sib to the Reserve Supreme Ewe of the Festival open show. Her dam is a daughter of "The Edge".

WI Sheep & Wool Festival Reserve Supreme Ewe

MB Genetics 8F-6KE was Champion Southdown Ewe and Reserve Supreme Meat Breed Ewe on Sept. 11 at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival open show. This yearling was sired by MB Genetics 4F-C. Her dam was Grand Champion of the 2006 National Jr. Show and is the twin sister of "Intuition", 2006 All-American and National Jr. Show Grand Champion Ram.

Our February ewe lamb was Reserve Champion and is sired by "Image" and out of a daughter of "The Edge". Judge was Judy Moore of Michigan.

This cool, rainy September day has brought relief from the heat of the summer to the breeding pasture. Six-strand electrified high tensile is perfect to keep breeding groups intact.

Starter Ewe Lamb Success

We are proud to have been part of the fun and success Danielle Robinson has had with the January ewe lamb from the MB Genetics flock that she won through the Wisconsin Southdown Association Starter Ewe Lamb program in April. She had Supreme Champion breeding ewe at the Fond du Lac County Fair in July and her brother Donnie showed her to 1st in the 15 head Winter Ewe lamb class at the WI State Fair junior show. This was the first breeding sheep project experience for her family.
